James McCormick has spent a lifetime perfecting solitude, the same walks, the same pub, the same table at the same restaurant every Saturday. When a heart attack drops him silently onto the floor of the North Bank, there is no one to call.

No one, except Vivi Filibert, a widow from Le Havre who has been following his Facebook posts and notices something has gone terribly wrong. With her formidable friend Jacqueline in tow, Vivi travels to London, installs herself in James’s empty house, and begins to piece together the mystery of who he really was, and who she really is.

Inside his coma, James navigates a world built of memory, longing, and locked drawers. Outside, life goes on without him, or does it?
