The Body as Chord

Consciousness as Field Range and the Oscillation That Returns Inward

Panos Sakelis

Modern Metaphysician

If the previous thought holds, that is, if what a human being emits upward is tone and not biography, then a question arises that must not be passed over. What exactly are the conscious, the subconscious, and the unconscious, if human function is nothing more than the variation of electromagnetic fields adapting to different conditions of existence? The question is not rhetorical, because the answer radically changes what one can expect from oneself.
I have already argued that the term “unconscious” is a categorization error. Now it can be formulated with greater precision. The three levels are not the floors of a building, nor deeper strata of soil, they are ranges of frequency in which the “I” is or is not tuned. Conscious is whatever falls within its reception band, subconscious whatever lies at its limits and requires amplification in order to be heard, unconscious whatever is emitted clearly and steadily, but in a band the receiver does not pick up. Nothing is silent within a human being, it simply is not perceived in its totality.
The image is not literary. The brain is not electrical metaphorically, it is electrical literally, and its activity is recorded in bands that neuroscience named a century ago, from the slow delta waves of deep sleep to the gamma that accompany concentrated attention. The same holds further down as well, since the heart produces a magnetic field detectable outside the body, the gut maintains its own slow rhythm at around three waves per minute, and every tissue sustains a difference of potential in order to remain alive. The organism does not have one frequency, it is a chord, and health is the name we give to its relative harmony.
We need, however, to descend to the minimum, because that is where the whole issue is hidden. The smallest vibrating element, allow me to name it an electromagnetic string, is not a pellet of matter, it is an oscillation with its own natural frequency, and physics does not disagree, having described matter for decades now as fields in excitation. What is crucial is that it does not only emit, it also listens, it receives the oscillations of its neighbors and the commands arriving from higher up, and what it finally emits is not its own frequency, it is a resultant. It has, in other words, an eardrum and vocal cords at the same time, both of them working ceaselessly.
This is not a philosophical supposition. Huygens observed already in the seventeenth century that two pendulum clocks hung from the same beam synchronize by themselves, without anyone touching them, because the slightest vibration of the wood suffices as a command. The cells of the sinoatrial node do the same within the heart, each with its own rhythm, all together with one, because the fastest imposes itself and the rest obey. This is how an organ is born, not as a sum but as a discipline, and every organ possesses its own conductor who holds its parts in a common measure.
Above these particular conductors stands one more, and here metaphysics is obliged to be precise. The fields, the rhythms, and the differences of potential belong wholly to the Essence, they are a material construction that operates by material laws. The Divine Spark belongs to the Hyperessence and is not one more frequency within the spectrum, it is that which hears the spectrum and holds it in order. The Hyperessential “I” does not produce the harmonics of the body, it reads them as a conductor reads his orchestra, recognizing at once which instrument has gone out of tune, and having at the same time the ability to give the appropriate command.
And it does not listen inward only. Every fundamental tone carries its harmonics, higher frequencies necessarily produced by the same source, which is why the same pitch of sound is heard one way on a violin and another way on a flute.
Man stands in the same position, a receiver of harmonics arriving from levels he has no way to name. Intuition without reasoning, the certainty that precedes the argument, the revelatory dream, all of these are receptions in a band that the Hyperessential “I” caught for a moment because the noise had fallen enough. It also hears the Divine Sparks beside it, and this explains why one presence calms a room and another charges it before anyone has had time to speak.
Here, however, a distinction is needed that determines everything. The command that descends from the Divine Spark is never mistaken. It has nothing from which to err, because it does not calculate, does not negotiate, and does not fear, it emits the pure tone that corresponds to it. The error is born exclusively along the route, in the intermediate conductors and in the brain that functions as translator, and translators, as I have said before, translate with the vocabulary they possess. A brain that built its synapses around fear will render the command of awakening as a threat, and the body will obey faithfully what it understood, not what was sent.
The dissonance, therefore, is not the composer’s mistake, it is the mistake of the performance, and psychosomatic medicine documents this in the most prosaic way, showing how prolonged internal conflict ends in a hormonal storm, in an exhausted immune system, in ulcer, and in arrhythmia. Whatever was not resolved at the level of tone is paid for by the level of the flesh, and it pays without ever protesting.
The therapeutic question therefore changes its formulation. It is not a matter of healing in the magical sense, nor of a wave of health sent to an ailing spot, it is a matter of restoring the translation and of harmonizing the dissonances, with healing arriving, when it arrives, as a consequence and not as a goal. That the body obeys a correctly aimed field is something medicine already knows, since transcranial magnetic stimulation is used with approval for resistant depression, the pacemaker imposes rhythm on a heart that has lost it, and lithotripsy dissolves stone with focused waves without an incision. Neurofeedback shows the same, where the patient sees his own rhythm on a screen and learns to shift it without knowing how. The disagreement does not concern the nature of the phenomenon, it concerns only the direction, that is, whether the correction is permitted to come from within as well.
I am obliged to be clear about the limits, because this is where the marketplace of consolation begins. No tuned tone dissolves a tumor, no internal oscillation replaces surgery, and illness is not a punishment for a bad frequency. The sick person does not need one more guilt laid upon a body that is already suffering. What holds is more modest and more stable, that the command never ceased to be emitted, and as long as it is emitted there is margin.
Its action, moreover, is not additive. It removes the interference that prevented the command from arriving intact, exactly as the organism heals without being asked once it stops receiving damage. The man who carries borrowed opinions, roles he never paid for, and a constant distance between what he says and what he is, does not merely produce a moral error, he inserts noise into a system that works with millimeter precision. Catharsis, which the ancients demanded as the first act of every initiation, was not moralizing. It was mechanics.

"The body does not obey the intensity of the will, it obeys its precision, and for this reason the one who has stopped producing noise heals more than the one who tries harder."
